FAQ's
Adobe Photoshop CS2 Mac Issues
An issue has been found with our Mac versions of Screens, Cutline, and EtchTone plug-ins in the CS2 environment. Andromeda is providing, free of charge, a seperate patch to fix these issues. This patch will need to be applied to the plug-in file after it has been installed. More information and a link to download can be found here.
All of our other Mac plug-ins will run in Photoshop CS2 however we are still currently in the proccess of testing in this new environment. Any bugs should be forwarded to techsup@andromeda.com.
OS
X and Photoshop CS/7 questions:
Are
your filters compatible with Photoshop CS / 7 running on OS X
The
Following Filters are OS X compatible: RedEyePro, ScatterLight, LensDoc,
VariFocus, Perspective, Screens, Cutline, and Etchtone.
The
non OS X versions of our Filters will run in Photoshop CS / 7 in "Classic" mode on
OSX. They will not be visible if you are running the Native (OS X)
version of Photoshop CS / 7 in OS X.
How
do I use my Andromeda Filters in Photoshop CS / 7 in OS X ?
1. In OS X, go to the Photoshop Application
icon on your hard disk and highlight it.
2. Then in the Finder menu
across the top go to File>Get Info>General Information Tab and check the box there that says
"Start in Classic Mode."
3. The next time you open Photoshop it will open in Classic Mode and
all non-carbonized Andromeda filters will be available.
4. When you're finished using our filters or want to
return to the Native OS X
version of Photoshop CS / 7; highlight the Photoshop CS / 7 application icon
again, go back to File>Get Info>General Information Tab and un-check the
"Start in Classic Mode" box.
5. Close
and re-open Photoshop. Don't forget to save your work each time you
close Photoshop.
I just purchased Photoshop
CS / 7 and when I installed my Andromeda
Filters, they don't show up in my Photoshop Filters Menu.
Re-install
the filters; during installation when the message "Found Photoshop on Your System;
Install There?" appears, just click on the NO button.
A navigation window will appear that will allow you to manually
create the path to the Photoshop CS / 7 Plug-ins folder within the
Photoshop Application Folders.
When
will carbonized versions of Andromeda Filters be available?
Planning to carbonize will continue throughout the year. Most plug-in
companies have been greatly affected by this and we too are going to do
our best to bring up all of our Mac products to be OS X compatible as
quickly as possible. If you would like to be notified when a
carbonized upgrade of a specific filter(s) is available. Please call our
office 1-800-547-0055.

Downloads
I can't download your demos and I am using Safari as my browser.
Safari for some reason doesn't
download our demos. This is an issue we are currently resolving. In the meantime, try using a different browser (i.e. Netscape or
Internet Explorer).
I can't get my Mac demo to unstuff correctly.
Get
the latest version of Stuffit Expander at http://www.aladdinsys.com.
I get an error when I try to download Andromeda Filter Demos.
Contact
your Internet Browser manufacturer and download the latest version of your
browser if you don't already have it installed. If this doesn't solve the problem, your Internet Service
Provider may be having problems. You
can also find all of the Andromeda Filter Demos on the Photoshop 7 CD in the
"Third Party Products" folder. Contact techsup@andromeda.com
if you are still having problems.
When I download one of the Andromeda Filter demos, the download
begins but then "hangs up" and never completes.

Installation
I just purchased Photoshop 7
/ CS and when I installed my Andromeda
Filters, they don't show up in my Photoshop Filter Menu.
Re-install
the filters and during installation when the message "Found Photoshop on Your System;
Install There?" appears, just click on the NO button.
A navigation window will appear that will allow you to manually
create the path to the Photoshop Plug-ins folder within Photoshop 7.
When
I install my Shadow Filter (Mac version 1.11 and/or 1.2) into Photoshop 6
/ 7 and enter my serial number, I receive the message:
“Personalization Unsuccessful”.
Install
the Shadow Filter into the Photoshop 6.0 > Plug-ins folder. Open Image
Ready (which ships with and installs with Photoshop 6.0). Open Image
Ready, open any psd, jpg, or tif image, and select the Shadow Filter from
the Filters Menu. Fill in the info and registration number.
Image Ready will allow it to serialize, and then it can be used with
Photoshop 6.0.
NOTE:
If you are having this problem with any of our other filters or you
are not using Photoshop 6.0, then please refer to other possible solutions 3,4
and 7 in the Installation section above under Both Platforms (MAC &
PC) heading.
I own Series 1, 2, and 3. I have a brand new G4 but it has no
floppy disk drive. How do I install my filters?
Call
our Sales Office at 1 805-379-4109 to get information about both technical
and functional CD upgrades for your older versions of Andromeda filters.
I
just installed a Filter into Photoshop (or other host application) and it
doesn't show up in the Filters pull-down menu.
The
message that appears during installation:
"Photoshop has been found on your system.... would you like to
install the filter there?" can be misleading. It's possible that the installer will find another version of
Photoshop on your system....other than the version where you expect the
filter to be installed.
If
you have multiple versions of Photoshop on your system, re-install the
filter and respond to the Photoshop Auto-install question by clicking on
the NO button. A navigation
window will appear that will provide you with the capability to manually
create a path to the desired Photoshop version's plug-ins folder for
filter installation.
Registration
I have entered my name and registration number, but the filter
still won't open, and each time I reopen it, I am asked to enter the
information again.
This
situation occurs on some Mac installations. Enter your information one
more time and rather than using the ENTER or RETURN key on the keyboard;
use the mouse to click on the OK button on the screen. Your filter
should initialize and open for use.
