Andromeda Releases the Online Photo Resource Guide

Westlake Village, CA – Andromeda Software Inc. today announced that it will continue to maintain and update its Online Photo Resource Guide, a guide for sharing photos and quality processing online. It was started in 1999 as a small “after hours” project that rates and lists services available at 50 active photo hosting sites which offer users access for storing, sharing and printing photos online.  The site has gained popularity and proven so useful both internally and to a growing public audience, that it warrants our continuing support.

The hosting sites reviewed allow consumers to upload pictures, invite friends to view them, send photo greeting cards, order prints and sell additional merchandise and services. The guide reviews over 50 active sites, including all of the major players, summarizes defunct sites, and lists sites known but not yet evaluated.

The evaluation of these sites is broken down into 8 main categories:

-Free Storage limits
-Scanning availability
-Image Size accepted
-Upload Mechanism
-Album Links
-Viewer Thumbnails
-Print Sizes
-Comments

The sites are presented in approximate order of preference, from the viewpoint of a consumer seeking on-line storage for digital photos and print services.  Placement in the list is not sponsored, rather, it reflects the opinion and evaluation of Andromeda's senior engineer Dave Dyer who has been the force behind this list. Dave is an avid photographer and author of several Andromeda plug-ins. The guide is one of the most comprehensive resources for photo sharing and quality processing services on the Net.
